The American Society of Plant Biologists (ASPB) is a leader in developing and supporting professional development opportunities for members at all career stages and institution types. To further develop support infrastructure centering around the ASPB conferences, ASPB is seeking to receive input from individuals at diverse career stages to collect conference experience, identify opportunities for improvement, and help develop ideas for targeted professional development programming. ASPB is offering small travel grants ($200) to section meetings in 2025 for those interested in participating in this program. Travel award recipients are expected to participate in all program events, which could include virtual gatherings before and after the section meeting, an in-person gathering at the section meeting, and surveys.

We encourage applications from individuals at diverse career transition stages (undergraduate and graduate students, post-docs, early career scientists, those interested in transitioning to different fields/careers, those returning to research from heavy administrative duties, etc) and from diverse backgrounds, experiences, and institution types (PUIs, HBCUs, MSIs, R2s, R1s).

Eligibility: Travel awards can be made only to citizens, nationals, or lawfully admitted residents of the United States.

Applicants will be asked to submit a personal statement that includes current career stage and future plans, and other general information.

The Plant Scholars travel award application deadline is January 20, 2025 for all section meetings.
